Semilla Besada
March 6 - March 31, 2007
In the b2 Gallery on the Lower Level of the Fairfield Center; a new exhibition of work by Anastacia "Stacia" Dick-Schuster, addresses and creatively explores the concept of connection. This concept came into sharp focus for Dick-Schuster after the shocking July 2006 explosions in Ellison Bay, WI that rocked the small Door County community and tragically claimed two lives and destroyed several buildings.
The exhibition name, "Semilla Besada," reflects her journey, from examining the many challenges facing humanity and its home planet, to recognizing the importance of connection in facing those challenges, and finally to finding the inspiration to communicate those ideas.
Henry Moore 1940-42: Shelter Drawings
February 2 - March 25, 2007
This exhibit will incorporate Henry Moore's series of collotypes contained in the Shelter Sketch-Book, which was executed during the years of 1940-1942. During World War II, Moore commuted from his cottage in Kent to teach at the Chelsea School of Art in London; he resigned when the school was evacuated. At that time, he began making his first drawings of people sheltering in the London Underground during the Blitz. The “Shelter Drawings” exhibition is a showcase of these striking, memorable works.
Moore continued drawing after the war. While he is often considered to be the greatest sculptor of the 20th century, his drawings also reveal his ongoing passion for monumental form and vision. The Fairfield holds a large permanent Henry Moore collection; other notable collections are held at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Henry Moore Foundation and the Tate Gallery, all in the United Kingdom.
“Henry Moore 1940-42: Shelter Drawings” is scheduled to close on Sunday, March 25.
