Paperweights: Selections from the Bergstrom Mahler MuseumPaperweights have been prized for their unique beauty and exquisite craftsmanship since the nineteenth century. Intimate yet remote, these sparkling crystal jewels encase miniature worlds of flora and fauna, colorful canes and cameos — they continue to fascinate and entrance enthusiasts today. Represented in this educational exhibit are pieces that span two centuries of paperweight production. The exhibit includes a selection of 110 paperweights; many demonstrate the use of ancient techniques and the attainment of artistic excellence, which was achieved by European and American glass factories during the past 150 years of production. The Bergstrom-Mahler Museum in Neenah, Wisconsin houses one of the largest paperweight collections in the world. The Fairfield is grateful for The Bergstrom-Mahler’s generosity in loaning this small but impressive group from their impeccable collection. To visit the Bergstrom Mahler's website please click
