January 2008 January 5, 2008, Noon - 5 p.m. The Saturday Salon: Sketching and Painting in the Galleries. Every Saturday afternoon through March 29, 2008, the Fairfield will welcome local artists at every level: student, amateur and professional, for an afternoon of drawing and painting in the galleries. Traditionally, artists have always learned through copying Master paintings. Impressionist painter, Mary Cassatt, for instance set-up her easel in the Louvre and copied the great masterpieces in the famous French museum. During the winter months the Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art will exhibit its international art collection, including the Henry Moore bronze maquettes, providing artists a wonderful opportunity to learn from the Masters right here in Sturgeon Bay! Artists are asked to bring their own drawing and painting supplies. We will provide the space and inspiration. This event is free and open to the public. Daily Guided Gallery Tours begin at 1:30 p.m. These docent-led tours are a brand new feature at the Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art. They run daily, Wednesday thorough Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The tours will provide museum visitors an intimate opportunity to learn more about our signature artist Henry Moore and the Fairfield Center's world-class permanent collection, as well as the rotating exhibits in the b2 gallery. Tours are free and open to the public. Friday January 11, 2008, 6 - 8p.m. There will be an Opening Reception in the b2 Gallery for David Starr's exhibition, "ReMyth". This event is free and open to the public. Wednesday January 16, 2008, 6:30 - 8p.m. There will be an Opening Reception for "The Grapes of Wrath: A Visual Story" in the Main Gallery. This event is free and open to the public.
