The William S. Fairfield Permanent Collection

Part of William Fairfield's bequest was his remarkable collection of works by Henry Moore, an artist called "sculptor of the century" by Newsweek magazine. Over 85 of Moore's prints and maquettes are now a part of the permanent collection of the Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art. In addition to Moore's work, the eclectic collection also contains selected works from such celebrated modern artists as:

  • Henry Moore (1898-1986)
    British sculptor and graphic artist

  • Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944)
    Russian pioneer of abstract painting

  • Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966)
    Swiss sculptor and painter

  • Fernand Leger (1881-1955)
    French painter

  • Rene Magritte (1898-1967)
    Belgian Surrealist painter
